Join WRJI for a viewing and discussion of “Something New” a romantic comedy-drama that focuses on interracial relationships, gender roles, and changing values in African-American families and cultures. It follows the romantic ups and downs of Kenya McQueen a successful, single African-American woman who unexpectedly finds herself attracted to a white man. The film was directed by Sanaa Hamri and starring Sanaa Lathan – both of whom were nominated for NAACP Image Awards for their roles in this film. It was written by Kriss Turner, who won a Black Reel Award and a Black Movie Award for her stellar writing.
