Acting Together: WRJI convenes to create an Action Network!
Yes, white supremacy is having a powerful resurgence. Many of us feel overwhelmed by the huge scale and speed of its vicious tactics. Although it is hard to know where and how to act, WRJI invites you to lean in! – and to advance your work with support, intention and determination. Please join us to partner in designing and launching a Wellesley Anti-Racism Action Network aimed at resisting white supremacy and the subjugation of People of the Global Majority (PGM).
2nd Design/Build Meeting
Sunday, June 22
4pm – 5:30pm EDT
Via Zoom
Free
Some of the ideas that we have generated so far include:
Amplify Alums’ anti-racism work
- Promote the work of alum leaders engaged in anti-racism work and connect them with one another
- Publicize alum anti-racism websites and publications; provide a platform for their educational programs.
Disseminate best practices and actions
- Organize cohorts to research “best practices” and disseminate to the Wellesley alum network
- Curate and disseminate calls to action.
Support Alums under siege and anti-racism activists
- Groups for professionals being threatened (eg, teachers, lawyers, DEI professionals, etc.)
- Group for anti-racism activists to provide mutual aid and encouragement.
We know that Wellesley alums have excellent ideas, deep knowledge, and wisdom and with your input we can co-create something powerful and effective. So, we envision quarterly Action Network Design/Build Convening to connect with one another and continuously communicate ideas and successes, brainstorm and design new initiatives, and collaborate on responses. WRJI is open to adding and changing any and all of our ideas as we learn the most effective ways to take action! Even the name of the Action Network is open for ideas!
The Zoom link will be sent in advance of the meeting.
If you cannot attend the meeting but would like to collaborate, please complete the Interest Form and the Anti-racism Action Network Team will be in touch with you.
