SUMMARY:WRJI Podcast Club: “Linked\, Not Ranked: Remembering Gloria Steinem from a Black Feminist Perspective”
DESCRIPTION:For this Podcast Club session we will listen to an episode of the Podcast “Intersectionality Matters!” hosted by Kimberlé Crenshaw (the prominent civil rights lawyer who coined the now ubiquitous term intersectionality). Crenshaw joins scholars Beverly Guy-Sheftall and Salamishah Tillet for an intimate conversation about the ways Steinem personally touched their lives and affected history. The group touches on timely topics such as white feminist allyship\, the tension between race and gender in Black communities\, and what it means for Steinem to be the face of feminism in the last century. \nPlease listen to the 1-hour podcast in advance and come ready to listen or share your thoughts. The podcast can be found on many platforms including Apple Podcasts\, Spotify\, or you can listen here: Episode 82. “Linked\, Not Ranked: Remembering Gloria Steinem” \nThe Zoom link will be sent before the event. Looking forward to seeing you!
